Covenant of Mayors Office
63-67 Rue d’Arlon
Covenant Coordinators are public authorities that are in a position to provide strategic guidance, technical and financial support to Covenant of Mayors signatories and municipalities signing up to it.
Alongside financial assistance, Covenant Coordinators typically support signatories in conducting a CO2 emission inventory and/or a climate risk assessment, as well as in preparing and implementing their Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans.
- Covenant Territorial Coordinators are decentralised authorities, such as regions, provinces or grouping of local authorities,
- Covenant National Coordinators are national public bodies such as ministries or national energy agencies.
The European Commission recognises them as important allies to support Covenant of Mayors signatories to meet their commitments and increase the impact of the Covenant.

StrategyIn the Province of La Spezia, while all 32 municipalities have already expressed their willingness to sign the "Covenant of Mayors", ten of them have already voted positively at the Town Council. Our Province will act as the reference point within the local community leading the smaller municipalities through the creation and implementation of Sustainable Energy Action plans. We have also decided to focus our efforts on the reduction of CO2 emissions produced by those public buildings which are owned by the municipalities, through the identification of energy waste and alternatives to reduce it. AIMS OF THE PROJECT - Supporting projects for energy audit of those buildings owned by small and medium municipalities; - Promote the dissemination of energy certification; - Support the installation of monitoring systems for energy performance on some of the buildings owned by municipalities, in order to establish rational strategies for management and intervention; - Start in parallel, within the municipal administrations, a training process related to energy management of buildings; - Increase public consciousness on the concept of energy saving and raise awareness of new rules on energy certification, through the dissemination of results obtained by these interventions; - Promote the creation and maintenance of a database on energy audits carried out through a platform Web-GIS (GIS AUDIT).
