Covenant of Mayors Office
63-67 Rue d’Arlon
On 13 November 2012 at 3.00pm the Covenant of Mayors Office organises a webinar on Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) for Covenant Signatories, Supporters and Coordinators. Roman Doubrava, Policy Officer at the European Commission’s Directorate General for Energy, will present the recently launched EPC campaign that builds on the Energy Efficiency Directive adopted some weeks ago.
Energy Performance Contracting can be a powerful tool for Covenant of Mayors Signatories willing to ensure that their public buildings do not waste energy and are equipped with the latest technology. With no need for upfront capital, the infrastructure refurbishment is financed by the energy services company (ESCO) responsible for the project. The investment is then repaid by the anticipated energy savings, reducing the financial risks for the municipality. For more information about EPC have a look at this leaflet.
The signatory municipality of Oskarshamn in Sweden will speak about its cooperation with Schneider Electric in the refurbishment of public buildings such as the city hall, schools and child care centres. The municipality will highlight how EPC works in practice and share the main challenges and opportunities of such collaboration. Schneider Electric will explain the process of EPC, stressing the cost-benefits for municipalities and the contractual process binding both parties.
This webinar is the first in a series of online seminars on EPC to be organised by the Covenant of Mayors Office. The webinars are based on a genuine experience-sharing approach. Participants will be able to ask questions during the session itself via the chat and within a week through a dedicated discussion group.
A link to join the webinar will be provided on the newsfeed/homepage of the Covenant of Mayors Extranet/My Covenant section, which Covenant Signatories, Coordinators and Supporters can access with their profile login information. An instruction document on how to take part in the webinar will also be available in this location. The webinar will be held in English, and participation is limited to an estimated 100 people.
